2010 Carding & Spinning Day

Dear Friends,

The Historic Toadlena Trading Post celebrated its 13th annual Carding and Spinning Day on September 25, 2010. The weather was glorious and everyone enjoyed a day of visiting with neighbors, carding and spinning wool, a delicious lunch, and lots of door prizes.

Over 100 people attended from the local community including Master Weavers and aspiring Master Weavers, textile collectors, friends of the Wheelwright Museum, Santa Fe Community College faculty, and members of the press to report on the event. Writer and publicist Amy Steeby, and painter James Ayers and sculptor Craig Bergsgaard enhanced the day by bringing their works in progress for the weavers to critique and admire. The finished pieces will be displayed at Toadlena in an exhibit entitled Honoring Weavers with Canvas and Bronze next June 18th in conjunction with the posts next museum opening party.
